Another advantage of blowing is that the fan (I use the term in a generic sense) and its motor are handling cold and thus more dense air, so there isn't the heat strain on the motor insulation. 73 Pe

That's just one of many reasons. Fans are noisier when the inlet is restricted. Fans last longer when in cool air. If filtered the high pressure side will keep dust out. The list can go on and on. T
