Greetings, I'm building my first homebrew amp. Making slow but steady progress. It is a pair of 3-500z in grounded grid. I have acquired an old National R-175A plate choke. It is in good shape, and I

You can also buy a choke from Ameritron that has about that inductance on one form. Carl KM1H _______________________________________________ Amps mailing list Amps@contesting.com http://lists.contes

For a 1kw amp designed for 10m thru 20m only (5 bands), is there a plate choke available that is optimized for this purpose? Would it have all resonances above 30 Mhz? Thanks, Steve KK7UV ___________

BUT at 3.5 MHz, that 50 microhenries has an inductive reactance of 1100 ohms, and needs an extra 50pF of plate tuning capacity. Now let's assume a plate voltage of say 2500 volt and a minimum plate v

Good comments and analogy here Peter...many homebrew tube amplifier hams (and the occasional commercial amp designer) often deploy inadequate plate choke RF bypassing / decoupling on the B+ line...es

So it's still about 320mA and 1.5 volts across the bypass cap. If Q =150, 3 watts in the choke, Q=75, 6 watts in the choke, etc. Actually, depending on the bypass cap and the length of leads, it coul

Presence of a glitch resistor is a 'given', Carl. I have one in the power supply: it has to be effective since it's nichrome and we all know that nichrome is the magic answer to all evils! An 80 ohm,

I place the glitch resistor right at the base of the plate choke so it will be effective as a RFC and the PS end bypassed. Something in the vicinity of 7-10uH is fine and if something bigger as a res
