Asked: "Why are plate chokes seemingly black magic? (etc.)" I'll try to dispel some of the mystery and misconceptions. First, the very principle of operation of 'modern' solenoid, air core plate chok

"On 10 meters at 1 kW, you can get by with using about 22 to 40 uH which is a pretty small choke when it's on a ferrite core. (etc.)" Will, That's nice, but a 10 meter resonant SOLENOID air core chok

Has anyone bothered to consider the fact that the peak plate voltage is divided by the number of turns of wire in the choke, and you don't ever want that 'volts per turn' number to exceed the insulat

Dennis, Your correct on this. As long as this is calculated to not go over the wires rating, it would be okay. I didn't include this because of so many different insualtions on the wire that are avai

Ferrites exibit material permeability change with temperature. Plate choke is an element which is in close proximity to the tube which is very hot. I think, if such a choke has any influence on the p
