- You could also have cooked the slug in the coil or warped the coil form depending on the material. There is a fair amount of circulating current in those pi-networks when run off frequency. 73, ...

- Thanks to all for your suggestions. In retrospect, I think I should have put more emphasis on the "why" aspect - is it dangerous to input circuit components to run an amplifier like an SB-220 on band
