I recall an article in Ham Radio many decades by Bill Orr, with a super cathode circuit. As I recall, a good portion of the drive was to the cathode and the screen was connected down on the cathode c

Colin, I think the best bet is the original 'Single Sideband Fundamentals and Circuits',by Pappenfus, Bruene and Schoenike, published by McGraw Hill in 1964 or so. But it's not an amateurs' 'how to'

Colin, Orr lifted that design from Collins, but like Collins in later years Orr made some mistakes in the application of negative feedback. The problem is two-fold: 1.) In some systems is the phase

The THP HL-1K ran a pair of 4X150/250's that way along with a swamped grid input. Schematic should be available on line. Supposedly it ran quite clean. Carl KM1H _____________________________________

Hi Colin, There is an article in "CQ", April 1970, pp16-21+85 detailing an all band (the bands there were back when) super cathode design using a 4CX1000A. 73 & Good evening, Marv WC6W http://wc6w.50

To add to what Tom said, Pappenfus recommends the circuit for high gain tubes, and specifically mentions the 4CX250B and 4CX1000. There is also a caveat against grid current, but a suggestion that IM

I built several amplifiers using the Super Cathode Driven circuit a few years ago using pairs of 4CX250R and 350R tubes. I tied the grid to the cathode and directly grounded the screen. I found that
