A little over a year ago I acquired a working Ten Tec Titan 425. It spent a year in the closet as I had nothing to load it into. I finally got the new antenna up and turned on the amplifier. After ab

What!? I see 470 uF 450V capacitors on Ebay, 10 for $34 and free shipping. Mouser has 1N5408 1KV diodes for about 20 cents each. and 330K 3w resistors for 90 cents. One might have to use a silicone a

If you are buying the caps from Ten-Tec that price seems correct as Ten-Tec has become outrageous on their spare parts prices. You should be able to source the caps and the diodes from Mouser, Allied

I just replaced the filter cap board in a friend's AL-1500. It was $180 for the fully populated board. I t was pretty small. Maybe it will fit. It is set up for full wave bridge. There is a separate

I took it to Burghardt Radio Repair and Jim said the transformer was good, but most of the rest of the supply was toast. I believe him as he has always been fair and square with me. He said there was

WOW! $800.00 for a set of caps? Sure doesn't seem very "square" to me. The plate voltage is less than 2500 volts on a Titan, and as I remember, there are 8 caps in it. A set of caps would set you bac

The bad news is the caps alone are around $800. You mean there's no way to gut the old board and fit in a home made capacitor filter board? Even new, full retail cost of new caps is a small fraction

There is no need to use 400uF caps and the 270uF used by Ameritron in their 1500W + amps will run you about $120 for all 8. The diodes are about .25 each. Labor to do that is minimal but since that R

New caps from Ameritron would cost a bit over $100. Diodes are cheap and bleeder resistors available from Mouser reasonably. I can't imagine where the $800 figure came from. Find someone else to fix

Thanks to all of the kind replies. A little research has helped me figure out what is going on. If you try to track down the caps with screw terminals (like came in the amp) they are VERY expensive,

The 270 uf ameritron caps mentioned by me and others are $13 each and have screw terminals. They are rated 85 deg. C so if you want 105 deg caps you might pay more. But the snap in types are availabl

Not if you want CDE 381LX series. There are many cheaper Snap-In types which will not handle the high ripple current for long. I certainly dont understand going to a differnt cap that means a rework
