Has anyone ever used the original transformer of the Dentron GLA 1000 B in a 2 x GI 7B set up ? Evidently with voltage doubler Thanks Geert - ON4IG _______________________________________________ Amp
Hello, Keep in mind that when you use a doubler circuit, you will cut the available current in half. The transformer wattage will always stay the same. The GLA 1000 runs at about 1100-1200 Vdc with a
Hi All, One Gi7b(T) happily runs 2KV at 350mA (at least mine does on 144MHz) Vy 73 de OZ1PIF, Peter ** OZ1PIF ** email: oz1pif(no-spam-filler)@privat.dk http://home24.inet.tele.dk/oz1pif/ Ph. +45 461
I think you end up with higher peak and RMS currents in the transformer, leading to a lot extra heat in there. I don't have time right now, but the Duncan Amps PSU designer will predict the numbers.
Steve, It does. A transformer needs to be sized for the intended circuit. A doubler circuit requires more current than does a bridge rectifier, actually more than X2 because of the arrangement. I thi
I think that stacks up with the figures I roughed up. My way of judging it is by the rms current - that goes up goes up by around 30%, so the heat goes up by around 70%. Potentially a recipe for a sh

Ken, The Dahl transformer will provide 2.1 amperes continuous. However, if it were to be re-rated to ICAS, the current could be multiplied by 30%-50%. Keep in mind that the wire size must be correct
