I have noticed that the older amps that use a choke input filter network such as the old Henry amps use a small value for the filter capacitor. My old Henry 2K used something like a 10uf oil filled c

Nope it will work fine as the choke sets the safe peak current thru the rectifiers. If this is for a Henry 2K: Probably a lot of bright lights and smoke with the 3B28's. Just the big cap and no chok

I'll guess that is all that was needed after the "resonant input" and it reduces the energy stored in the filter capacitors. That's the way I like to do it. -- Ron KA4INM - I'm proud to be Chuck's p

I think one of the reasons is capacitor technology has come a very long ways since the first Henry amps were made. So the caps available today were not around back then. 73 Hardy N7RT _______________

Then just replace the diodes with real ones (-; Carl Carl, Noted. The 3-400Zs have been replace with 3-500Zs already. The 3B28s have been replaced with K2AW units, I think 14kv 1 amp jobs. Lane Ku7i
