G'day Dick, The DX-2 needs no modifications to operate at the 1kW plus level in a 48 hour contest. The cooling is very adequate and at the 1kW level, I know that you won't even trip the switch to go

I would suggest to run the amplifier @ it's rated 2 kW out. My experience with other Emtron tetrode amplifiers is that the efficiency drops significant when they run at a low output power level. The

Scott, You're right, I passed with 3 errors for my Extra Class License. One of them must have been the power limit question. Of course all my tests with the DX4 have been on the 20 kW Rohde & Schwart
