in ref to my gu-84b based hf amp I set this tank circuit up and tuned at 7.250mhz, came up with a beautiful output then tried to do the reverse check. I put a 2k resistor from the plate to ground, ho

Is the MFJ analyzer still ok? Mine went bust after 3 months, could not handle strong RF radiation even when off and not coupled to any circuit. I trashed it and purchased a Palstar ZM30. In use now f

That reminds me about an interesting incident with a MFJ antenna analyzer. Our club had just put up an new 2 meter repeater antenna. They had made some adjustments to it in one of the member's back y

Hi Chuck, if I remember right you are running 3.9KV at the anode, 3.5KV under load. With 500W output you have most likely not more then 250mA anode current. That results into an impedance of almost 8

right from the plate thru the resistor to gnd as you do when you setup initially. No power ever applied, the analyzer is AOK If I use a 2k ohm load I can set it up for a good match, but when the amp

If you want to test it at lower power, figure what plate voltage and plate current will give the same load impedance as the high power load you are designing for. Example: 3000 volts at 1 amp (using

good info on all! thanks. Will get a bigger pot and do a sweep and see if I can find a value, just helps me get a clue into whats going on, I like to play. the amp is excellent on 80 and 40 now, so I

I have another question on the MFJ analizer. If I set it to capacitance, and I want to see what those caps are set at when I find the sweet spot on a peticular band..what frequency should I set the M

I have found that the mfj works best while using the lowest frequency that will give you a reading. Most capacitors are measured / speced at 1000 Hz. Going higher in frequency you start to measure st
