I think its a fairly standard practice NOT to send your call everytime when there is a pileup calling. It's quicker to send and it thins out the herd, making it easier to copy a call and get the job

You are of course correct, but most bandpass filter designs are just that...a high impedance everywhere but in the passband and they will work fine in parallel within reason. I'm not sure about tying

Not necessarily correct. You are allowed to "interlace" QSO's, which is not uncommon among the top operators. I can be listening on one radio while transmitting on the other. I might be listening for
