My friend Kari Korhonen, OH5TS died this morning. I met him many times in Finland, and we kept in touch between visits. He had a big tower on Kuorsalo, an island in the Gulf of Finland near his home
For the first time I can recall, in yesterday's NAQP CW I noticed operators making many QSOs between IDs. I suspect this is a consequence of the new assisted category. It is really annoying to those
Because the assisted category was recently added to NAQP, possibly leading some operators to assume their callers would just get their calls from spots. 73, Scott K9MA -- Scott Ellington -- via iPad

I did a very simple mod to 1235M: A resistor in parallel with the thermostat. This causes the fan to run continuously at low speed, rather than cycling when demand is low. The fan runs at full speed
I've never detected any RFI from my 1235M, and it has worked flawlessly for about 15 years. It may be an old design, but I really think they got it right. It's quiet, reliable, small, and inexpensive
Yes, I can. None of those electronic devices are trying to hear -130 dBm signals! 73. -- Scott K9MA k9ma@sdellington.us _______________________________________________ CQ-Contest mailing list CQ-Cont
Sounds like the fan of the 1235P-M works the same way as that of the 1235M, so the resistor mod should work. 73, Scott K9MA On 11/13/2024 12:41 PM, Steve Dyer W1SRD via CQ-Contest wrote: It's not var
OK, Barry asked me for the resistor value, so I had to look it up. 73, Scott K9MA 73, Barry W2UP I was afraid someone would ask that! According to my 2011 notes, it was 50 Ohms, and dissipates about
Not so expensive in the US! ($253 at Mouser) 73, -- Scott K9MA k9ma@sdellington.us _______________________________________________ CQ-Contest mailing list CQ-Contest@contesting.com http://lists.conte
