21. [CQ-Contest] Re: [DX] VK0NARE (score: 1)
Author: kl7y@Alaska.NET (Dan Robbins)
Date: Sat Nov 1 10:05:14 1997
Well, I certainly heard them on 20 m (I was one of the ops at KH7R), but someone was taking a list for VK0ANARE and then feeding him calls. I could not hear the list taker except briefly as he was ab

"Patrick McIntosh of Heliosynoptics, Inc., and Pierre Cugnon of the Sunspot Index Data Center find the September increase (of sunspots) 'very significant'. Furthermore, McIntosh notes that in Septem

23. [CQ-Contest] VR8A (and other oddities) (score: 1)
Author: kl7y@alaska.net (Dan Robbins)
Date: Sat Dec 6 07:57:41 1997
We not only worked him, we set up a sked on 80 and he showed up! We also worked him on 40 and he was around quite a bit. Would like to know what country he was in as well as OH0MAM. In the log here,

I vote for ICE (1-800-ICE-COMM). I've used the Bencher before and it gets quite warm on 10 and 15 at legal power. I bought a couple of the larger ICE units (Model 422) which are rated at 12kwPEP/6kwD

25. [CQ-Contest] more 1 station, 2callsigns (score: 1)
Author: kl7y@alaska.net (Dan Robbins)
Date: Sun Dec 14 22:27:06 1997
I disagree with the rule. Suppose I decided to open my station up to give some non-contesters a chance to get their feet wet. Maybe they are new hams, maybe they just don't have room for HF antnennas

The ARRL WAS...err, DX Contest was proof that poor propagation can ruin one's fun. Did have some openings on the low bands with decent rates, but the openings were so short that I was still trying to

Author: kl7y@alaska.net (Dan Robbins)
Date: Sat May 18 22:36:36 2002
The complaint is that this guy is offering big amps for sale. So what? Which is better, running a 1500 watt max amp at full bore for 48 hours in a contest or running a 3000 watt max amp at half power

28. [CQ-Contest] New log deadline for ARRL contests? (score: 1)
Author: kl7y@alaska.net (Dan Robbins)
Date: Fri Jun 7 06:01:09 2002
Single ops seem to have no problem with sending logs in right away, but some of our multi-op efforts resulted in logs that were totally screwed up. At one point we had a lot of RF getting into the co

29. [CQ-Contest] 15 days too short (score: 1)
Author: kl7y@alaska.net (Dan Robbins)
Date: Sat Jul 27 07:33:28 2002
I'm glad that so many think 15 days is long enough, but we don't need a duration that covers the requirements of most of the contesters, we need one that covers ALL contesters. I've had to ask for tw
