I believe that's right, David, the RX port is not switched off/out when the rig is transmitting. To protect my radio, especially now that I have an amplifier, I installed a relay to disconnect my K9A
Well, this unit goes between the K9AY control box and the radio, and disconnects the whole thing, preamp and all, from the radio. I'm not sure whether RF coupled to the loop could damage the K9AY box
