Strange as it may seem W4KFC, W5WZQ (now W5UN), K6EVR et al were able to win or place in the Top 5 in the ARRL SS without computer logging or 2 radio set ups. 1st off it was hard to win on either mod

A tip of my hat to all the stations who ran up more than 800Q's (NA or 500 DX) in the IARU. Sunspots are at the lowest ebb so 10 and 15 were E or TE when you could find it, 20 was the milk run band,

I tend to agree with Bill, W4AN that time limits add another element to a contest. The ARRL SS has always (except for 1964 I think) had a time limit. You won the contest by going full tilt whe propag
