As a few people asked privately, here's the answer for everyone (Tom, who originated this email wasn't one of them. I'm just using the Reply list option). Sink barely drained Tub barely drained Hallw
Since when is FD a contest? Barry W2UP I'll ask the FD chairman -- but I'm simply a band captain trying to figure out what I want to do. The club has been 4A for years -- they probably don't want to
In the latest ARRL Contest Update, it said, "The extended and colorful writeup of the 2012 ARRL 10 Meter Contest by Scott Tuthill K7ZO is online <http://arrl.org/contest-results-articles> for your re
You have to be careful with both paper and plastic. With plastic, watch out for PVC. It can leach a green goo over time. You want photo archival quality only. Personally, I store QSLs in shoe boxes.
You are correct, Gerry. Galv steel elec fence wire makes fine Beverage wire. As the Beverage is a high voltage, low current antenna, the added wire resistance has little impact on performance. Barry
Rin, Tnx for that email address. I sent a short email to them requesting that a LP category be added for non-Asia stations. Others who support this, please do the same. 73, Barry W2UP I'm nothing to
How would it filter out commonly miscopied calls such as LW3LPL and JH3CTQ (the latter being human error)? Barry W2UP As a usually-assisted operator, one of my discriminators, just as in unassisted,
Why would you want a raw feed? What kind of additional info do bad calls give you? Barry W2UP We DEFINITELY want the ability to get an unprocessed stream (raw feed). This looks like a very valuable o
Pete, Next we need a set of QSLing quality filters. For example: 1. Uploads log to LOTW within 24h 2. Responds promptly to paper QSLs 3. Uses OQRS 4. Waits 6 months or until the trip is paid for, whi
Whenever I hear "QSO B4," I just think "what an idiot" and move on. Barry W2UP On 9/4/2013 15:47, Dale Putnam wrote: That's the one that I adore... BECAUSE: if I don't have him in the log... there is
I plan to operate SS next Saturday from a multi-single. On Sunday, is it OK for me to operate with my own call from my home station? I suspect it is, and in that case, is it OK for me to work the mul
In my empiric experience, backscatter, like any scatter, works best with power and high antennas pointed in the direction that the band is open. For example, how do you work EU on 10m when the band i
While nobody likes the 0 pointers, they are a necessary evil. What isn't necessary is calling fellow stateside stations during the maximum rate hours, i.e., when the band is open to Europe. 73, Barry
Been there, done that. I used Top Ten band decoder boxes and antenna switches, Array Solutions NQN filters, and Acom 2000A amps. I used some old A/B/C boxes (picked up at a hamfest for a few bucks) w
Do I remember correctly that there was terrain blockage also -- the lower antenna was down a mountain slope? And that you did this on 10 & 20, as well as 15? Dave K3ZJ (then-op. @ W3AU listening to y
Even with the painstaking attempts of WRTC, there will never be an equal playing field where RF is involved. The solution - an internet-based contest! So many advantages. No travel, no blown finals f
Great idea, Jim. Wait a minute,,, Didn't ARRL apply DXCC credits from ARRL DX contest QSOs way back in the mid to late 20th century? Barry W2UP CQ, and all the other major contest sponsors other than
Agreed. It was an amazing program, especially considering the ,e,ory limitations on the Commodore 64, which had about 32K of RAM. A Windows version would use 100 Meg :-) Barry W2UP They didn't have m
It's not a big difference, but a little more daylight for 10m and a little more darkness for 160m if they are switched around. What say? Barry W2UP _______________________________________________ CQ-
Jeff, I agree. There's more to QRP than power. A 5W station using monobanders probably beats my 100W to a dipole. Barry W2UP On 1/12/2014 14:58, Jeff Clarke wrote: Am I the only one who has a big let
