Hi All I see in Dink's listing that I am listed as HP. I listed my score wrong the first time. I was acutally assisted using packet and I was Mulit Op, and have since sent in the corrected log to ARR
Does this mean that those stations actually work somebody that they don't know the callsign of? If they don't copy the call, how do they know it's right? That doesn't seem right to me for some reason
Hi Tree Definately a little pistol here. I think maybe the reason that the top op's don't use packet is that they are the beacons on the band. They stay in one spot and CQ for hours and get great rat
Hi Doug et al Well, I am sure they don't post the spot until AFTER they have worked the station. Be kinda dumb to post the spot and then get into the pilup and try to work them. Merry Christmas to al
I agree. I finally put a 'TU' before the grid in my macro and that seems to help also. Some guys come back so fast with the grid square only I'd miss the first letter and have to ask for a repeat. 73
Hi All A few months ago (right after SS SSB) I posted a query about amplified headphones for people (me) wearing hearing aids. It seemed it was just getting harder and harder to copy those callsigns.
Hi Guys and Gals I've gotten quite a few questions about which headphone's I got. These are the Radio Shack Catalog number 33-1197. They are working great for me, but no guarantee's how they would wo
I think the most serious one was "virtual operating." Stations will be set up a various countries and operated from home via the internet or a phone line. This could become a new business venture. I
Hi Steve I have a bunch of CFL's here and haven't noticed any interference. I don't operate any VHF bands so can't comment on them. I know they sure do last a long time. Have one in the kitchen that
Hi Rick et al You can do the voice files for contesting, but it takes a lot of twiddling to get them so sound right. One good thing about N1MM Logger is that you can hook up your mike to the input of
Good question. I worked a lot of different exchanges this weekend--ATT, NN, K, KW, T5T, TNN, TT5. Are we supposed to put in what we get, or what it is supposed to be? I guess TNN is shorter than 1TT
Well, I am in the 'looking back at 60' crowd and I still work full time. I have a job that is fun to do, but it is still a 40 hour a week job. I can't even think about keeping my butt in the chair f
Seems like whenever someone tries to push the envelope higher, people try and try to find ways to shoot their progress down. With new technologies, things are going to get very interesting in the nex
As a final point - if it is illegal for me to use a remote receiver - why would it be okay for me to get information from remote receivers that have people in front of them? One thing I have never un
Hi Dave et al. But what if I didn't care if I came in first or last? Or wasn't even figuring on sending in a log? All I was wanting to do is "have fun." Isn't that what contesting is all about? If no
Hi Scott I sure hope so. I just purchased a new Commodore 64 that I am going to dedicate to my remote station. $3500 is a lot to pay for a computer, but it will be worth it. Now all I need to find is
I'm assuming you mean for SSB contesting? How many of these will be learning CW just so they can contest. If they wanted to learn CW, they would have done it a long time ago. The incentive is no dif
"So - if the entire station is contained within the 500-meter limit, it can be operated under local control (operator on-site) or by remotecontrol (operator outside the 500-meter limit and connected
Yes, but what is the alternative to rules? It seems to me that rules are pretty much set in stone, until there is a good reason to change them. Look at all the hubub about adding new classes. 73 Tom
Good conditions. I have 450 Q' s and the contest doesn't even start for another 45 minutes. Look out Doug!!! Tom W7WHY _______________________________________________ CQ-Contest mailing list CQ-Conte
