Hi, I've been meaning to include a brief history of 3830 score reporting on the 3830scores.com web site. Personally, my history of score reporting only goes back to the advent of the 3830 e-mail refl

What's the origin of sharing claimed scores and "war stories" on 3830 kHz after a contest? When did it start? Who started it? Thanks. Bruce, Perhaps W3LPL or KR2Q could go back further than my recoll

When I operated at K6UA in the early 1970s, I remember Dale getting on 75 meters with W7RM immediately after the contest to compare scores. It seemed to be an established custom when I got there so i

My first contest was in 1957, but I had no real need to listen to the big gun 3830 reports then. I recall 3830 khz use after contests in the mid-late 1960s, east coast/midwest USA. Which means it pro

I always will remember 3830 khz after the SSB Sprints (early 90's). By 0356Z 75M was dry and the peeps would already be there, it was a Midwest thing (I was WB0O in ND), and it went on for 30 minutes

Others have already predated my memories of 3830, which go back to the late 1980s when operating at W3LPL. As soon as the clock hit 0000Z on Sunday night, we would start packing up the TS-830s we bro
I am curious. Since "everyone" is reporting to online scoreboards these days, what's the point of K3LR and W3LPL getting on 3830 and reporting their scores. Don't they already know the final scores?
"Everyone" isn't actually everyone, I think it'll be several years or so before realtime scoreboards and livestreamed operating will become mainstream. Even then, I think most will still return to 38
Hello Ed: W3LPL and K3LR have been gathering at the end of four major DX contests every year since the early 90s. To answer your question - we do not know our team's scores until that magic moment on
Actually, I was referring to the frequency 33830 at 0001Z after the contest. Not the website based on the history. Since K3LR and W3LPL must be on the scoreboard real time, it occurred to me, whats t

GM All Well I sure remember listening to 3830 reports. I was so amazed at scores. After hearing these tremendous scores, I never dared to report my lowly efforts.
I'm pretty sure that LPL and LR don't post or look at the online scoreboard at all, probably for the same reasons that you don't. 73, Chris W4WF -- Chris Plumblee 407.494.5155 _______________________

I wasnt active until the late 1980s in the world of contesting but concur with what KQ2M has said. 3830 was definitely the place to be after a contest and, yes, a lot of side bars took place on 3827
