This happens for any pile up both contest and non contest when the EU operator cannot hear you well. In EU some of the stations like to send their calls continues till they are worked. Very annoying.

There can be several reasons why those things happen. A few obvious possibilities (in or out of a contest are) are: a. QRM/QRN on his end caused the caller to think that you sent his call incorrectly
