I plan on playing around in WAE next weekend - nothing serious as working Europe from Colorado is too depressing. In the contest, each US call area is a mult. My question is: Should I sign W2UP or W2

Hi Barry: I never sign /3 in WAE for the reasons you cite. Since you're just playing around, you could pass out the "0" multiplier if you wanted. I think your analysis of the pros and cons is spot on

Barry, As you noted, call areas in several countries count as mults for EU stations in WAE contests. Here is what the Rules say, "For European stations every non-European DXCC entity counts as a mult

Hi Barry. and offer an extra mult. It helps us also to put you in the right call area! Rates are usually not a big issue @ WAEDC so the /0 would not matter to much I guess. I am not an expert on Club

Barry, Re, LOTW, you would need to create a certificate for W2UP/0 and upload with that certificate, but then you could, in LOTW, combine W2UP/0 with W2UP for DXCC purposes. 73, Hoop K9QJS or K9QJS/7

As a log checker myself, I know it is important to get the right call district. AD1C does a very good job in cty.dat, putting stations in the correct district, but sometimes we have to resort to the

Barry, Concerning the LoTW part. W2UP and W2UP/0 are different call-signs. If you go for W2UP/0, definitely there will not be any LoTW match if you upload your QSOs as W2UP. 1. Provided, you are a Lo

Barry, Personally, I wouldn't bother. WAE is not a rate fest, and there will be enough displaced zero's in New England and 100 other places Stateside closer to EU than you are, that you're just makin

I've always hated cold weather. For me, the only good thing about late fall and winter in New Jersey was that it gave me an excuse to sit in front of the radio, and not feel guilty about doing so - e

Exactly right, Mike. It's the equivalent of signing /QRP -- making the QSO more difficult. I work most DX contests QRP because I'm not competitive from W6,but I've NEVER signed QRP, and I won't work

This has been the majority opinion. Just my call, no /0 (or should I sign W2UP/0/QRP??) Did a little listening on 20m this morning. A few weak EUs, but doesn't look good... Barry W2UP On 8/9/2016 11:
