Steve, At least through the 1950s and early 1960s reports were not a standard 599. In looking through some of my old logs I find I very seldom gave or received a S9. However back then the measure was

I don't think so. There wasn't much computer logging being done when I started playing this game in the late 70s/early 80s but my logs indicate pretty much universal 59(9) reports. So it started way

I was contesting in 68-69 from Japan as KA2RM and those logs were 99 percent 599 25 or 599 500 in ARRL test and the ARRL DX was 2 weekends then. Quack _______________________________________________
