I have a single wide screen monitor (44) on a shelf above my rigs. Perfect height for the eyes with no neck strain. Every thing is on top of a height adjustable desk so its right where I want it. Pic

The answer depends on your available space and what other equipment in the shack you need access to. Most likely the best height for a monitor is with the base on the desk looking down slightly at it
