My DVP has started doing this within the last year or so. First, I noticed that after exiting CT, then re-starting, the recorded Fn messages would be very distorted or have the white noise overlayed

Whoops! Hey, Ken: Did the audio file copy get changed from raw to cooked in one of the updates? A cooked copy will eliminate those characters (changes CR/LF [0d/0a] to just LF [0a], for example). --
