yup My D-700 will make this noise with the vehicle turned of, and I'm running directly to the battery. Actually, if you all could hear the sound, it would be apparent that it isn't alternator or othe

Hmmm, Has anyone called Kenwood about it? No point looking much further for the problem. The TM-D700 has this issue. Typically it is when the radio is cold, and heating up. I don't think there is muc

Folks, I just spoke with Kenwood customer service. They understand the problem and don't believe they are responsible to resolve the issue. In particular the Ford truck's 12vdc circuits are RF and Au

It is interesting to me that before the D700 I used a FT-857 and never had the problem. In fact the D700 even picks up spark plug noise where the 857 does not. Makes me think Kenwood should own the p

How big is big? 20,000mfd? from Yes, but that winding will drop some voltage on transmit. I'd try ONLY a BIG capacitor first, then add the inductance only if the cap didn't solve the problem. 73, Jim

Does anyone have a variable 12dc supply that they could use with the D700 and perform some testing with voltages from 13.8 down to 11.8. I know the FT-857 I have doesn't like any voltage below 12vdc.

Perhaps the radio is a mono output and the headphones are stereo...when used with a mono jack you may be shorting one side to a ground loop... try getting a mono to stereo converter jack. 73, dave wa

Check to see if the input impedance between the two channels is different. You may just have an 'open' signal ground on the effected channel. That could be a cold solder joint on the active circuit b
