One useful technique is to use a portable receiver as a sniffing probe very close to the device in question, and ESPECIALLY to any WIRING connected to it. I use the HF RX that's built into my 2M/440

I don't think that is a ground lead, it should be a neutral. The ground lead is between the house meter and ground rod. There is also a rod at the transformer and a ground between them, but not from
