- I've used magnetic reed switches for discreet switching while keeping the appearance standard. They work fine inside the case with a small button or bar magnet outside. Never had a problem with steel

- RTTY is basically a contest-only mode. Check the RTTY subbands during the week sometime. They are vast wastelands, even 20m. Then check the PSK and JT65 frequencies - there is always something going
