The 2x4 calls in Australia are the new Foundation class license. The first letter of the suffix will always (for time being anyway) be "F". They have limited HF access and are limited to 10 watts Bri

It takes longer to transmit 2x4 callsigns, especially on CW :) and should be confusing, too. I remember, in some other country (not sure maybe in Japan?) there are also 2x4 calls for the beginners. -

As far as I know, in Japan normal 2x3 calls are allocated to normal stations even they are seemed to be beginners. But for Special Event Stations, 2x1 to 2x5 calls are given in limited time period. F
