Same reply I posted in another forum: Since counterfeit items are the same as stealing from the legitimate manufacturer, I can't say as I blame them. All the driver update does is rewrite the part of

NO! Violet Blue has not done her due diligence and is only reporting the "yellow journalism" version of the story. Check outer sources ... The update does not *destroy* the chip - it removes the FTDI
