Last spring I got some good info and help from RTTY hams here about loading a set of INRAD filters into my Kenwood TS-450s. I chose 2 x 400hz filters for the 8.83 and 455 IF stages. The units went in

you need to switch to RTTY or digital whichever your rig has. the filters are centered on 600 Hz in SSB or CW and 2125 in rtty mode. 73 Jim w7RY _______________________________________________ RTTY m

This indicates you are probably using AFSK in USB. The narrow filters are aligned for RTTY (FSK) mode which is in LSB using "high tones" - 2125 Hz Mark, 2295 Hz Space (TS-450/690 Instruction Manual,

Hi David I have the same setup as you--2 Inrad filters. They won't work in AFSK. You have to run FSK to use the narrow CW filters. 73 Tom W7WHY _______________________________________________ RTTY ma

Wow. Well if thats the case it was an expensive waste of $300. However, why would the filters be unusable in AFSK(LSB)? Dont they just narrow the IF bandpass to 400hz? _______________________________

FSK is MUCH better than AFSK.... What are you using for a computer and software? I use windows XP and MMTTY with N1MM. Works just fine in FSK mode. Is there a particular reason you don't want to run

you can probably use the BPF and IF shift to center LSB into the filters passband. Then you will have to use 2125/2295 for tones. 73 Jim w7RY _______________________________________________ RTTY mail

David, I have a Kenwood TS-2000 and used the SignaLink at first and still use it for modes other then RTTY. On the TS-2000 you need to run FSK to take advantage of the built in filters. A friend made

Okay, so you think if I adjust my IF shift it will help? When I click either filter in its like a dead band as I tune along. Like a 60db attenuator is on. ____________________________________________

If the IF shift has enough range it will work. Find a "dead" place on the band, select the narrow filers and turn the IF shift one way or the other to the stops and see if you hear noise come up. 73

Confusion is clearing a bit, check my thinking on this.................. The 400hz filters are listening over a portion of the band away from the section where the mark and space tones will be heard.

If the narrow filter is centered at 600 Hz in LSB, a 2.2 KHz offset should get you to 2800 Hz which should be more than enough. Check it though. See the information on AA5AU's web page: http://www.a
