If you need to send CW or control your radio, then it does not work. If you would just like to log a contest, then it works great. NT needs to control the ports since it is a true multi-tasking OS.

I don't have an answer, my guess is that it'll run ok, but what I *do* have is another question. How will TR run under Linux, probably using dosemu? Thanks, Fran KM1Z -- FAQ on WWW: http://www.contes

In general - it seems that DOS's performance running under NT is pretty strange. Maybe there are some knobs to tweak, but I have seen choppy sounding CW. Tree -- FAQ on WWW: http://www.contesting.co

NT doesn't actually run DOS... 16 bit DOS code goes through a DOS emulator in NT. (Just like dosemu in Linux) This maintains the 100% protected mode architecture of the NT OS, no switching in and out

Hi. Most folks don't prep properly to use NT for this. It may be that the proper steps disable other things that are more important. If so just get a standalone 486 and run DOS on it for the logger.

I hate to sound like a rebel but if you want to run NT you should try writelog which is made to run on NT. I have both programs and there are things I like about each but TR does not run well in NT.

I have run it OK under dosemu, *however*.. it doesn't send intelligible CW. (it might on a faster CPU, I was testing on a 486-66) Same problem as NT, too many CPU cycles stolen for other processes.
