Yes, mine does the same thing. The VOX indicator does not come on when you go from SSB to CW but it is obviously still active. It also freezes the sweep when a noise activates the transmit. Good news

Sounds like overheating in the balun. Try feeling it to see if it is hot (caution - it may be very hot!). Caused by serious mismatch. Try changing your antenna or feedline. Your old tuner worked fine
