Anyone seen an OMNI-VI do this? Symptoms: The rig appears to be stuck on the same QRG all the time. The freq display changes when you crank the tuning knob, but it's not actually changing the RX freq

Interesting... "Grabbing at straws", I removed the back-up battery to force a hard reset of the microprocesser and voila, all seems well again. FYI: the battery still reads 3 volts...

Spoke too soon. It flaked out after putting it back together. At least it ran for a while, making me think it's an interconnect problem, as you guys suggested.
