John, If this is an issur TT better be changing the radios. Especially for ORION @ $3300.00 Lee _______________________________________________ TenTec mailing list TenTec@contesting.com http://lists.
Interesting, as that'a not how Bob Heil wires his mikes. I just changed my new Heil mike cable he sent me for the ORION. The shield was not connected to the connector base (the connector itself) at t
Barry, I am still in the 30 day evaluation window, and I am not sure yet. May I ask why you ask us this. Do you want one or are you wanting to know why someone may be returning one. Thanks, Lee, KC9C
I was at the Fort Wayne, IN Hamfest last wk end. Talked to Icom, the 7800 will be more like $10,000? AND the first run is spoken for. Go Figure... Lee _______________________________________________
Craig, Here's another perspective for you.... I have had the ORION only for a short time. I have an ICOM 746 PRO. In just a few hours (PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ THE MANUAL..it's available on TT si
Charlie, I would be interested in an A/B comapison on the other HF bands to the PRO II. Not so much CW, but SSB as that's what I mostly work. Not so much just with close signals present, but in gener
OK, Guys, help me ut with this. I am a new ORION user. Are these issues (the interaction of RF gain, AGC threshold and decay, and BW) design issues, meaning does the ORION design / implementation hav
Speaking of 'threshold' being a new user of ORION... the first thing I noticed when using ORION, and doing an A/B test with my $1400 746 PRO was the noise level of the RX. Since then I have learned a
OK, Just my experience... No, you really cant use the radio out of the box. Well, maybe if the bands were real quiet (unlike present days with the Sun going nuts on us and the cycle going downhill).
Pete, Thanks for the information and the encouragement! So, I 'can' get ORION to be a pleasant radio to listen to, and to be a lot quieter?? Wednesday it is supposed to be back here from TT. So I wil
Bill, Thanks for the great information and sharing your experience. My thing is SSb on 20 - 10. It does seem to me that a lot of folks like ORION on CW and on LOW bands (160) . I do't even have an an
Funny, really don't see much other neat discussions on here, so must be at this time ORION is the hot topic. It's open, post anything you want.... When I see stuff about X or Y that I'm not intereste
Bill, OK, thanks, I really don't know what you man by quiet passband. Do you mean lack of other interfering sigals? or what? Lee _______________________________________________ TenTec mailing list Te
Duane, I am going to go for a new Centurion soon. I only want to run 300-500 watts most of the time. If I load it up properly ( fully) then just decrease the drive will I be ok, based on your experie
OK, I have a bunch of Collins, Drakes, and a very nice Icom 746-PRO. I have had the ORION for about 6 weeks. I love the features and the way it is so easy to get right at the parm you want to tweak!!
Bob, I have an ORION.... NO EQ at all. They call it EQ, but it is a tone control (-20 to +20 DB) on RCV and TX. No seperate audio freq band EQ. Don't know about the others... Lee ____________________
The simple answer is 2.1 - 2.4 KC. 2.8 at the very most. That (2.1 - 2.4) is what Collins, Drake etc. etc. did . Works well, uses minimum BW... Am is neat for the 'BROADCAST' Quality stuff. Let's mov
Jason, Sure sounds like you are a good Ham, and respect others. Me too! I think what you are doing is FB. I operate on 20 a lot, and it's almost always crowded, so I use 2.4. To me the BIGGER ISSUE I
