Are you wanting to use FSK or AFSK? AFSK is easy as it is an audio interface just like WSJT-X, PSK-31, and etc.   For RTTY I use MMTTY as the software on the computer.   I've also tried HRD and FLDIG

I too used my Omni VI+ and later my Omni VII in true FSK mode for RTTY using an external terminal unit.   Later I gave up all the extra cables and hardware and switched to AFSK.  I saw no difference
