Hi Stuart, Yes, I used to do RTTY with a PK-232 and a KWM-2 (de-rated to 50 W output for RTTY), but it's so much easier with modern software such as MMTTY and either of my TT radios (Argo V and O2).
I'm curious as to what O2 settings others are using for the 706 mic. So far at least, I seem to have settled on 60 for the mic gain and +5 dB for the TX EQ. Tnx & 73, Ray W2RS
At age 63, I now find that my eye-hand coordination is not as good as it used to be, and I find mice not as easy to use as old-fashioned knobs. The pad-type device on a laptop is even harder for me t
Having done quite a lot of both over the years, I would suggest that VHF/UHF is just as challenging as HF, but the challenges are different, i.e., extremely weak EME signals in quasi-white noise vs.
Hi Ken, I didn't notice much difference between 2.032 and 2.034, but maybe some of the others did. Anyway, 2.034 is working well on my O2. 73, Ray W2RS
Crit, Gerald et al, I have an Argo V and an O2. While the Argo V receiver is not as good as the O2, it's very good in its own right, in my experience better than the ones in comparably-priced ricebox
Based on the recommendations from the guys on this reflector, I picked up a pair of Sony 7506s which work just great with my O2. Very comfortable too. I also have those cheap noise-canceling headphon
Yep, me too. I don't have a 706A, just a 706 with the plug adapter, but I get the same thing. Turning the rig off and on restores normal operation. 73, Ray W2RS
I hear it occasionally here in southern Arizona. It, and other non-amateur interference on amateur bands, can be reported via Chuck Skolaut, K0BOG, at ARRL Hq. 73, Ray W2RS
Hi all, I'm one of those O2 users who have been getting consistently good reports, with no outboard equipment, using TT 706 and Yaesu MD-1B8 mikes. Except, that is, for the speech processor. It sound
Ron, The O2 sure makes me happy too. I am primarily a CW op, and note that a good deal of the reflector criticism of the O2 concerns audio issues that are of little concern to me. That said, in my da
My experience is that the Argo V works fine on PSK and RTTY using just VOX and audio connections to the sound card, through the Aux port on the Argo. Ray W2RS
I key the O2 using MMTTY just fine through the AUX cable, with the AUX input level set to 75 and the VOX turned on and set for max sensitivity (with the mic input disabled, of course). The exact sett
I run my Argo V at 20W, but it does have a power-output meter so if anyone wants to be officially QRP, he can always turn down the power to 5W. The Argo V is too big and bulky for backpacking, and co
I don't know that AFSK is any better, it's just easier to implement, at least for me. All it takes is the supplied AUX cable. No interface box or special software required, other than MMTTY and Digi
