I key the O2 using MMTTY just fine through the AUX cable, with the AUX input level set to 75 and the VOX turned on and set for max sensitivity (with the mic input disabled, of course). The exact sett

I run my Argo V at 20W, but it does have a power-output meter so if anyone wants to be officially QRP, he can always turn down the power to 5W. The Argo V is too big and bulky for backpacking, and co

I don't know that AFSK is any better, it's just easier to implement, at least for me. All it takes is the supplied AUX cable. No interface box or special software required, other than MMTTY and Digi

Last fall, on ARRL's emergency power day, I ran my Argo V at 20 W (also CW) with a 12 AH battery. It lasted for about 5-6 hours of operating. Maybe if I had run it at 5 W it would have lasted all day

No, the VOX in my O2 works fine with AUX input. You have to set the AUX input for very high sensitivity -- mine is set for 75, but the exact setting will depend on the computer output level. Rather t

I can't find a control for that either. It looks to be a fixed-level output, since the AF output control does not affect it. So, I use the computer's mic gain setting as the RX audio level control. T

I beg to differ, at least to the extent that I would like the audio response to be user-selectable. Reducing the bass roll-off would adversely affect the radio's ability to get through DX pile-ups, a

I've tried my old Autek QF-1 audio filter, which can narrow down to 30 Hz, but frankly I find the O2's DSP noise reduction to be far more useful in pulling weak signals out of the noise. A clear case

There is no separate connection for a paddle and a straight key. You can use a straight key by plugging it into the paddle jack and turning the keyer off. To get a "tune" signal with a paddle connect
