Had Rob Sherwood do some work on a r4c for me this spring. It took two months of finding parts.hihi But in that time had many conversations with him great man to talk to. Most of the talk was about S
Have to agree with Rick , SDR with big display Is what most ham want. However l would like to see a filter up radio with SDR. I do run a filter radio with high cost filters but it does work better on

I would be surprised if 100watts would be making the caps change! I think it would be a common mode problem. I would try to change ladder line length a little and if it a vertical antenna maybe more
Yes the Orion doesnt have all the bells it does have the whistle! I do like the way it handles 160 . Turn down gain 1/2 or so and signals weak and strong sound great. Yes the Orion is showing its age
The Omni VI is a great radio one of the 4 radios I own . Audio mods and filters it does a good job and you just talk no playing with knobs or anything Easy to use . But dont tell anyone hihi Byron AC
I have had both Orion and Orion II .Had to replace display in the Orion caps in power supply , power cord connection. The Orion II just the caps on the power supply board. Both great radios especiall
Yes some parts are hard to get if at all.A lot of problems are caused by bad caps, not hard or costly but very time consuming. Bad connections solder joints again dont cost but time. Shipping can be
It takes a little time . About 10days for me. No Omni VI CPU Boards available . Hope they can keep going . They did say might have some stuff for sale soon . Maybe hopefully! AC9PA Sent from my iPhon
Try grounding ground side of speaker to ground from power supply. If hum is still there there is a 4.7 ohm resistor that might be shorted Or a 270 uf cap open both feed the audio amp Byron Cordes
The print I looked at had the 4.7 ohm and a 240 uf cap to filter the 12 volt supply to the audio amp. Normally the resistor would open up but it's a chance. A choke would be a better choice but cost
