Correct and the accepted definition of Dual Conversion in the world of Superhetrodyne receiver design would be a radio with two distinct RF frequency IF's before detection or demodulation to audio. C
I don't believe the spectrum display works on the sub receiver. I think that is a hardware thing....it probably won't ever work in the Sub receiver..at least not in the OII. Just my best guess though
Not sure what version you updated from. I haven't seen that little dot on mine (2.044) but recently updated to 3.029. Dot sounds like a nice idea because with the display freezing it is hard to tell
Thanks for the input Ray.. I continue to try different settings but the 20hz has worked well for me also. Seems the biggest player is the RF gain setting as well.. It seems to determine the depth the
It depends on what you are doing with the radio... Chasing DX at the noise level it's a feature mostly only high end radio's have. Many don't work well but those that are implemented properly make a
Bob something is missing here for sure. If I do exactly what you say my "S" meter does not react the same. That is on my Orion II with the latest firmware and with the earler 2.044 and also my Omni V
I agree...I'm finding it crazy that the claims that the OII does not work that way is being brushed aside as us just not understanding. I've been a component level tech for nearly 40 years...I fix th
Depends on the camera used but one technique on digital cameras is to point the camera down into the darker areas of the station and depress the shoot button to the first detent then reframe the pict
I second that motion... There are lots of things to love about the OII but the spectrum display is not one of them. If you have never had a radio with that function if does add a bit of awareness but

Just my 2 cents worth.... Your grounding work shouldn't start just outside the wall from the radio gear...it really should start at the tower and be an antenna/tower grounding "System" designed to st

That's why I am concerned about guys that drive 3 ground rods at the base of their tower and expect it will be good enough. Mine has been struck 3 times in the last year and the net result was the lo
Might want to do the same inquery on the Hex Beam. I've heard it's a great expedition asset but not so much for a permanent station installation. (out performed easily by other basic yagis) No person
