Bob something is missing here for sure. If I do exactly what you say my "S" meter does not react the same. That is on my Orion II with the latest firmware and with the earler 2.044 and also my Omni V

Depends on the camera used but one technique on digital cameras is to point the camera down into the darker areas of the station and depress the shoot button to the first detent then reframe the pict

I second that motion... There are lots of things to love about the OII but the spectrum display is not one of them. If you have never had a radio with that function if does add a bit of awareness but
