I'll ask on the 565/566 reflector whether anyone has issues with the 15 ms delay. My relays close in under 1 ms and I don't notice a problem. Maybe I didn't watch the scope close enough. I can hear e

So why then do the manufacturers design the T/R switching with this delay? Is it to avoid hot switching in the amplifier should one be used. Not really. This delay is necessary to permit settling of

So if the ARRL lab test is correct, and the RF delay is 17 ms on the Eagle, then time to settle receiving again is 70-17=53 ms. The TS 590S total turn around is only 20 ms. If you want to break into

Start by making sure the bias is switching from cutoff. It doesn't sound like it is. If the switch is a relay you may hear it close. If it closes and you have no idling current then perhaps you have

Why not equalize the grid current for each tube. Small resister to ground should do the trick. Some folks turn it into a grid fuse by using a very small wattage resister. If the grid current goes too

I've already done it. I've also tried the grid fuse as well. My SB 220 has the grids strapped like this. See Richard Measures pages pages on SB 220 mods. Seems to me he is the main advocate for this.

Here you go, read the last sentence Mr. Measures writes here: ANODE AND GRID GLITCH PROTECTION A glass-coated resistor can serve as a peak current limiter between the HV supply and the anode circuit.

Actually, I tested many of his concepts on my SB 220 which I built around 1967 or so. I do not ascribe to them all. His theory on VHF parasitic oscillation has remained a topic which is still controv

I never use tetrodes myself and that is what QRO uses. Commander may have one of the best RF decks in the business. But their control board is in need of help generally particularly their switching.

Yes, indeed. But I only think of their higher power options with two or three holes of 4cx800 tetrodes. These sorts of ceramics with their high dissipation are where switching gets more difficult. I
