Steve:  I concur with your views.  Been in ham radio since 1969 and have had several rigs.  The one I miss the most is the Heath SB-102.  I now have a Jupiter and an Omni VI that has the VI+ upgrade.

Are those ground rods connected to the electrical service ground!  I not, you run a greater risk that not having a ground.  During a lightnibg strike you want everything to rise to the same potential

In going back to the broadcast days, we always put the tuner AT the antenna and had a "flat" line for the antenna to the transmitter.  Works better than a line full of VSWR in the shack. In my view,

Wayne:  The differences between a 563 and 564 are only minor.  My 563 is a rev 3 which makes electrically the same as a 564.  Tentec replaced 3 boards and changed a few of the front panel buttons.  T

According to the manual, there are 4 lamps that feed from the QSK board +12 line.  Don't remember off hand what the 12 equivalent of the old #47 6 volt lamp is, but should work.  Manual also mentions

Sounds like the "normal" way for a '723 supply to die.  I would keep the power transformer IF it's  ok, then build a supply using the 7815 regulator controlling the base of a darlington pair.  K4EAJ
