There is no reason a new operator should start with a simple, less capable rig. Why hobble him early on. The default settings on any rig will serve well, while he learns to use its more esoteric feat

I agree... I would not try to strip the current cover. I would clean it with something that can cut grease and oil and yet not harm the paint or other finish. Oddly enough, my usual cleaner of choice
