Try SDR# with RTL-SDR and up converter with noise bridge. Tap the IF of my old corsair. or any radio. The SDR have changed the world of radio for me. Very slick when used with the FT-890 70 Mhz 455 I
A nice add on toy for the older radios is the RTL-SDR dongle with the up-converter from nooelec.com with noise source. Used on a Corsair and FT-890. Spencer W1GAK
With a broadband noise source, RTL-SDR, with up converter running SDR# FFT display you can see where the problems are. I have done 2 radios, CORSAIR and Yaesu FT-890. Both radios were not usable when
I have a CAE APS 55 SMPS power supply designed to parallel with a 12 volt automotive battery for audio applications. Very quiet but not perfect. I turn it off if the noise is a problem. 13.4 volts 55
If you can find a radio with a band scope and a noise bridge you can align most any radio. I restored DOA Corsair, the old radio is a remarkable performer. No computers, no menus, only one push butto
I use a CASCADE AUDIO ENGINEERING APS 55 13.4 VDC at 55 amps. Very large heat sink, quiet fan and a SHURIKEN battery. Not noise free but almost. Spencer W1GAK
Check the balun for the correct Z of the windings, then try 4:1 and 1:4 configurations. I use a two core balun that works in both directions to solve that problem. Spencer W1GAK
A friend rescued a Corsair from going to the scrap heap. I used a noise generator, ICOM IC7000 and an old BC221 to get the radio operating again. EVERY adjustment in that radio was out of alignment.
Just curious....what noise gen did you use?? Palomar R-X noise bridge with Bird 50 ohm dummy load. Uncalibrated but very wide band noise up to UHF. X set to 0 and R near the null point. Spencer W1GAK
I have a Corsair that was given to me. The rcvr sensitivity seems blah, some sigs on 20 and 30 meters, thats it Puts out full power. I plan to check things starting at the speaker working to the ante
Found broken tuning core on L1 on RF mix 80987. Replacement on its way from TT. I plan on connecting my noise bridge to the antenna input and using my OMNI 7 or ICOM 7K as a spectrum analyzer to chec
I used the IC7000 band scope to check/align the rcvr input banpass filters. A noise bridge was used as a broadband noise source. The bandpass filters for all bands were out of tune. Now for the rest
