As I sit here (central US) listening on my Orion II I am hearing a strange signal on 14.220 MHz. It seems to have a heavy 60 Hz component and intermittent noise crashes. Is anyone else hearing it? 73
I have a signal peak from here in Arkansas at 270 degrees (West). If you others could pass along your headings it might be interesting. Thanks & 73, Bernie K5XS In a message dated 10/1/2007 11:27:03
Bernie - Am on the coast of Nova Scotia and I do not hear the signal you mentioned. Sorry can't be of more help. Don, VE1BN ** See what's new at http://www.aol.com

If anyone would like to receive a short (14 second) .wav file of what I am hearing on 14.220, kindly send me an email and I will send it to you. 73, Bernie K5XS ** See what's new at http://www.aol.co
Steve, I seem to recall (traded my Omni VI+ for an Orion II this year) and my log-book records working with as little as three watts just cranking down the "Power" control (ganged with the "Mic" micr
Mike, I'm guessing failed switching diodes. I had the same problem with mine. (If I hadn't given away the manual I could tell you the board, but after I traded it in on an O-II I gave away the manual
Gary, I am on the road, and so I don't have access to schematics.? But if memory serves, there is a set of band-grouped switching diodes on one to the boards (I can't even remember which).? I'd bet y
After looking for voltage spikes on an oscilloscope, I hooked keying for an Ameritron tube amp directly to the relay output on both my Omni VI+ and Orion II. Both have keyed it without a glitch, and
Francisco, Sorry to not have replied sooner. The antenna tuner is very good, and a key feature is the broad impedence range it will match. It is much better in that respect than the tuner on my TS-20
I just called Stan at Ten Tec. He thinks the first VI+ was made in about 1996, and the last run was 2002. That start date is consistent with my recollection. I bought a VI+ in 1996. 73, Bernie In a m

Betty, I am just another ham on the list, so I can't remove David from the listing, but I am sure one of the administrators will see to it. I just wanted to tell you how sad I am to hear of your loss
Andy, I have found the sweep to be highly AGC dependent. With a fast AGC setting, I get more "pips" showing up above the noise floor. With a slow AGC, I see few. (I like the blue on white setting bes
John, I don't think the message is hidden at all ;-). Your experience tracks with mine. I have never had an unpleasant experience with the company after owning their gear for about a dozen years. Ber
Paul, Your impression tracks what mine was...until I got an Orion. I have had it several months and have put it through the wringer. In the time I have had it, I have not had even one single glitch.
Kim, Sorry for all your travails. Those moments aren't fun. For what it's worth, I bought my O-II with the auto-tuner, and I have been very happy with it. It seems very stable, tunes quickly, and mat
Gang, Wonder is somebody could help me? Yesterday, I turned on my Orion and found there was no speaker output, either on an external or internal speaker. Audio at the headphone jack was normal. I bel
John, For what it's worth, the AN and NOTCH controls on at least one Orion software version work well. When I tune to 7.251, my Orion 2 running Version 2.037j takes out the heterodyne from 7.250 very
