Barry and all, I'm looking into the same thing. What about using the 1/8" CI-V clone port on the rear as a second serial connection? You could still connect the 301 to the DB25 port. 73 - Fred ______

Doug and all, Just looked at my Herc-II (420) manual. Its Remote connector pinouts are referenced to the Omni and Corsair on Page 3-3 and appear to be straightforward - no multiplexing of band data.
