Okay boys and girls. the antenna project is done I have a 160 meter doublet feed with 600 ohm line. 130ish feet on each side. Followed the antenna suggestions from everyone and now have it connected
bob and the group I didn't have the .001 in a voltage rating that would live so I used a .01, and yeah, I know that's way too much C for the instructions, it looks like the extra c is only used in po
bob and the gang, inserted the 259 and with the 1:1 balun. resonate freq is 2.487 or there abouts so the antenna as it sits is too short. I'll re-check the length with my harbor freight made in china
Well, perhaps no... I added fifteen feet of wire on both ends, expecting a dramatic drop in resonance it went from 2.489 to 2.334 mhz something is wrong! Mike, WB8VGE SunLight Energy Systems The Heat
that link works, but... I don't have a problem with it drifting once tuned, i can't find a tuning solution. still working on the problem Mike Bryce prosolar@sssnet.com On Oct 12, 2013, at 1:44 PM, Mi
Jim, and all the others here on this list..... Sorry, I certainly wasn't neglecting you or anyone else trying to help with the doublet problem. With two computers running 24/7 and my iPad catching th
Jim, The antenna is a doublet up 50 feet inverted vee style. It is feed with about 170 ish feet of 600 ohm open line. None of the couplers can find a tuning solution All other bands work fine Sent fr
Don't jump to conclusions just because one is nearby. Are you pulling current on tx? If so how much? It's possible the low level driver went out. Can you hear yourself in another receiver? Mike wb8vg
You can use a shortwave rec if you have access to one Scope!!!! Unplug the driver (small coax that goes into pa) and load down with a 50 ohm resistor (47 is fine) And with the drive/alc all the way u
Oops You should see normal resting current. I don't remember what it is,but under one amp Meter the+12 Going into the pa compartment. Mike wb8vge Sent from my iPad
Ooooo Can you measure current 1amp or so ? Break the red lead going into the pa and in lock measure current How much rf did you see from driver? There's about a watt or so there. Mike wb8vge Sent fro
bob, that's basically how I've been attacking the problem. set c @2 and L @30 apply some rf and move between HI Z to LO Z. When I find a spot that will result in a 2:1 swr, the L is still at 30 and t
bob, since the antenna is inverted vee style, the feedline slopes away from the tower. and yes, 5kw current 1:1 balun at the end feed into the 238 tuner. Mike Bryce, WB8VGE the heathkit shop SunLight
jim, there are two wires, one of each side, that are 131 feet long. they meet in the middle at the support and continue down 175 ish feet into the shack to a 1:1 current balun. I use 'Snaplock' space
rick and Paul My magic sticks seems to point in that direction, too. without seeing if they have standby current, it seems they are open, but still there are drivers in the the pa, too. while it is a
aren't they also called 'center feed zepp' antennas? Mike, WB8VGE SunLight Energy Systems The Heathkit Shop http://www.theheathkitshop.com/ J e e p o|||||||o A man with one clock knows what time it i
well poop.... I'm laying in bed playing this all out in my head. I sure want to use this antenna for the 160 meter contest coming up mike Mike, WB8VGE SunLight Energy Systems The Heathkit Shop http:/
