I am curious if the radio always had the tone in the background? If it is something that has recently increased, I'd check the PC board mounting screws, and also be suspicious of any electrolytic cap
I ran into the same issue with an Omni VI. a front panel switch matrix developed a leakage resistance between a row and column. Stopped uP processes as soon as the interrupt was raised.. I could see
Hello to the group... I picked up a "parts" Omni VI recently to keep as a spare and as test bed to repair boards. Unfortunately, it is missing the metal bracket that holds the internal speaker, and t
Just curious, does anyone know if TenTec still sells replacement tuning knob tires in the different colors they once offered? Orange, Red, Gray, etc.? I don't want to bother their overworked service
Phil Make sure the LO injection to the DBM is where it should be. One thing you can check is the gain of the two grounded gate amplifiers stages, each uses four J310 FET devices in parallel. A long s
Phil I am not sure how to measure the LO injection on the Omni VI DBM. The most common DB Mixers require at least 7dBm, and that would be hard to measure using RF voltages since the diodes are driven
Phil, there are bandpass filters on the LO Mixer board. If the LO signal falls low enough, the DBM losses will increase. The post mixer amp provides a proper impedance terminal for the mixer, and mak
If the PL issues are resolved, I'd fix the radio, or sell it for parts. The Paragon rigs are aging beasts, and even buying another Paragon may mean you end up with TWO parts radios in short order! Bu
Life's lessons: 1: the tiny 100uH ferrite chokes used by TT make great fuses!!! 2: any TT inductor is a candidate for wiggling and eventually fracturing its solder joint at the PCB pad.
However, if you want something that just works, I would suggest an IC-7300 and move on with life. 73 Phil W1PJE Yes, but I'd rather be here trying to fix a thirty year old Ten Ten vs. a IC-7300 in te
Need some advice on selecting a USB adapter to provide a serial port for controlling my Omni VI. The Dell machine I am using allows the RTS line to go high when the port is not in use, so it does not
The detected (recovered audio) does loop through the processor board for the DSP functions, and that path is muted by the uP during transmit. However, during transmit power lines RX and TX from the e
Hello to the group... I am looking for 9 MHz and 6 MHz Inrad CW filters for one of my Omni VI Plus rigs. Would consider upgrading to Inrad SSB filters as well, but immediate need is for CW. Regards P
I just spend a day working on a replacement 81597 board for my Omni VI rigs... added the ten turn pots. Odd thing is when I tried to align the board, obtaining the 400 Hz offset for CW was impossible
As you just described the problem as needing to do a 100 Hz offset sounds more like an error in the CW BFO settings or something related to whatever gives the CW offset in that rig. Pete
