- The older Heil adaptors that went with older TT's , tied the mic ground and the PTT ground together. I'm not sure about the newer ones for the Orion. I upgraded Heil adaptor by cutting the PTT ground

- Really depends on the kink of noise, for engine/power line type repetitive noise, i agree,hardware is best i've seen. For band noise, the software is good, but for weak signal work, I leave them both
