Tnx for the info. Further experimentation shows that I can back off the mic gain to 55 or 60 on SSB, but it still wants 75 or so on AM. If I go past +12 dB of H/W mic gain, it begins to sound distort

The VOX trip level doesn't seem to affect my sweep display, but my other settings may not be the same as Chris's. Anyway, I totally got rid of the red sweep by switching to the waterfall display :-)

Hi Jerry, You're right, that computer stuff wound up wrecking the company financially. Not the first company to suffer that fate, nor the last. Meanwhile, the KWM-2 that I bought in 1962 still works.
