So now I guess this begs the question - Why use the M4T32-BR12SH1 battery? If the xtal in the battery pack is not used why use such an exotic battery?  Yes it "snaps" onto U501 but user accessibility

There's an access hole on the bottom of the Orion about 1 inch (2.5 cm) behind the USER2 button.  It provides access to a trim pot or variable capacitor. What does this adjust? Thanks. 73, Rick VE7TK
